We would like to thank all of our supporters and look forward to your continuous support.

Voice of Ms. Eat Thy (43 years old) Living in Khampong Kou

“My husband normally makes a living by fishing.  Our daughters are 16 and 17 years old. The level of the floodwater became waist-high. I think it took about 3 months for the water to completely subside. We had no choice but to stay inside our house during the flooding and my husband couldn’t go fishing.”

“Before, I used to own chickens and ducks, about 10 of each, and sold them as they grew, but the birdhouse sunk in the floods and all of them drowned. Our banana and palm trees also died after being submerged in water.”

January 5th, 2012- Ms. Eat Thy (right) expresses her gratitude to Tomoko SONODA (left) of the Tokyo headquarters office and local staff member, Socheat (center). (Kampong Thom Province, Khampong Kou)

“I have a disability in my right leg, which makes it impossible for me to go out and work. I had no money to buy food during the floods so I had to make a loan. Our daughters are almost at the age of starting high school, but they would have to commute to the city of Kampong Thom. We currently don’t have much money to spare and I’m afraid it’s going to be difficult to send them to school.”

“Every item that we have been provided will be useful and we are extremely thankful. The rice would last us about half a month. The mosquito net that we are using now is old and has holes in it, and I plan to put up the new one that we just received tonight. Thank you so much.”

January 12th, 2012- Mr. Thaing Thy (right, 45 years old) lost his right foot in a landmine accident when he was about 20 years old. The floods destroyed the rice crops that were soon to be harvested, and the amount of fish he’s able to catch has also decreased. On the left is Tomoko SONODA of the Tokyo headquarters office. (Siem Reap Province, Anlong Samnor)

January 12th, 2012- Ms. Sar Socheat’s (second from the left) rice crops and corn were completely damaged. “I was worried that my 3 year-old son would fall in the water during the flooding. I hope that I can replant the corn.” On the far left is local staff member, Socheat and on the far right is Yuichiro YAMAMOTO of the Tokyo headquarters office. (Siem Reap Province, Chi Kreing)
